We will now leave Kathmandu, and start on a long journey to Dharapani. The highway initially takes the road along the highway with numerous towns, river valleys, and terraced farmland. As we continue, the journey becomes more scenic and rural. Once we arrive at Besisahar, the road becomes rougher and narrower as we enter deeper into the Annapurna region. We will proceed up the valley of the Marshyangdi River, through villages, falls and mountain-views.
This is a long drive, but it provides us with a slow change in the urban environment to the mountain one. In the afternoons or evenings, we will reach Dharapani where we will stay in a local lodge and prepare to start trekking the following day.

We will start trekking today at Dharapani and then go on the trail through the Marshyangdi River valley. It is a twisting highway into the pine forest, villages and fields. On the route, we will reach villages like Bagarchhap, Danaque and Timang where we can see the way of life and the environment of the mountain villages. The trail features a few suspension bridges and a few regular uphill sections, but the day is not extremely challenging.
The higher we go, the colder the air and the mountain landscape begins to draw nearer. Five or six hours of walking will bring us to Chame, the seat of Manang district. Here we will rest in a lodge and enjoy our first full overnight stay in the higher trekking region.

After breakfast, we will continue our trek from Chame toward Upper Pisang. The route is a slow ascending trail with wooded areas consisting of pine, juniper and rocky mountain. We will pass through Bhratang, a place known for its apple orchards, and continue along a path that opens to wider valley views. As we ascend the terrain starts to shift and the terrain becomes drier and more open. We will also be able to see other snow covered peaks around the route.
After around five to six hours of trekking, we will reach Upper Pisang, which sits above the lower settlement and offers a peaceful mountain setting. In the evening, we can walk around the village and enjoy the quieter atmosphere.

Today we will take the higher route from Upper Pisang to Manang via Ghyaru and Ngawal. This is a more difficult and longer trail than the lower one, but it is more acclimatizing and has greater views of the mountains. We will begin with a steep climb toward Ghyaru, where the scenery becomes more open and impressive. We will then move on to Ngawal and take the path to Manang valley.
The Tibetan cultural influence is very high in the villages in this part of the route and even the terrain also changes into drier land. After around seven to eight hours of trekking, we will arrive at Manang, a large village with bakeries, shops, and comfortable lodges. We will rest here and prepare for acclimatization.

Today we will have rest day in Manang to ensure that our body adapts to the rising altitude. We will maintain a slow speed and emphasize on keeping hydrated and resting during the day.

We will resume our walk on Manang to Khangsar after a day rest. The trail exits the Annapurna Circuit trail and takes a more sedate trail towards Tilicho Lake. We will pass a river and slowly climb up through the open country, with less trees and more rocky ground. We may be met by grazing yaks and sweeping mountain scenery along the way.
Today we walk less, about four to five hours, and gradually getting accustomed to elevated altitude. Khangsar is a small village which is very quiet with fewer lodges and provides a more isolated trekking experience. We will spend the evening resting and preparing for the higher altitude days ahead.

We will proceed to Tilicho Base Camp to-day, into more rugged and elevated country. The trail is not very steep and has rocky trails and landslides, hence we will walk slowly and at a consistent pace. We will follow the trail via Shree Kharka through rocky and landslide-prone sections with wide mountain views.
The higher we go, the less air we have so we should walk slowly and keep hydrated. The hike will last approximately six or seven hours, depending on speed and the weather. We will reach Tilicho Base Camp by afternoon, where there are simple lodges. We shall sleep early and get ready to hike up to Tilicho lake the next day.

After visiting Tilicho Lake, we will begin descending from Tilicho Base Camp toward Yak Kharka. The track initially goes through rocky areas and then expands into broader valleys. The air is a little lighter as we go down, and the walk is more pleasant than on past days. We may see wildlife such as Himalayan blue sheep along the way.
The climb takes about five or six hours and can be termed as moderate as compared to the previous ascents. Yak Kharka is a small hamlet with some lodges where we shall stay over night. This day gives our body a chance to rest, and at the same time, we continue onward to the next phase of the trek.

Today we will continue our trek from Yak Kharka toward Thorong Phedi, which is the last stop before crossing the pass. The trail softens up up through open and rocky landscapes with fewer trees. We will also walk slowly but steadily to save energy and get used to the altitude. Along the way, we will follow the river and cross small streams before reaching Thorong Phedi.
This hike is approximately four or five hours, a short, yet significant day. We will have a rest, hydrate and get ready to have an early start in the morning the following day after reaching Phedi. Before crossing Thorong La Pass, good rest is highly required.

It is the longest and most difficult day of the trek today. We will start early in the morning before sunrise to cross Thorong La Pass. The mountain is also steep and a few hours climb, hence we will move gradually and have frequent rests. After reaching the top at 5,416 meters, we will spend some time taking photos and enjoying the views.
We will come down to Muktinath, a long downhill walk, out of the pass. The entire day involves about ten to twelve hours of walking. On arriving at Muktinath, we will then take rest in a lodge and take a break after a tiring day.

We will also depart Muktinath after breakfast and head towards Jomsom by jeep. The highway cuts across arid terrain and runs along the Kali Gandaki valley. The road is approximately four to six hours drive. We will pass by villages, rocky cliffs and broad valley landscape.
Compared to trekking days, this journey is more relaxed and allows time to rest. Jomsom is a larger town with better facilities such as shops, lodges, and bakeries. Once there, we will be able to spend time walking in the town and have a nice evening after the primary trekking part.

Today we will travel from Jomsom to Pokhara. When the weather is favourable, we may take an early morning flight which takes about 20 to 25 minutes and offers mountain views. Flights are weather dependent. When there are no flights we will go by road which is approximately six or eight hours.
Once we arrive at Pokhara we will shift to the hotel close to Lakeside. The rest of the day is free, so you can relax, walk around the lake, or explore the local area. This will be an ideal moment to have a relaxing vacation after some days spent in the mountains.

Today we will have a complete rest day in Pokhara. This is a day that you can rest your body, after several days of hiking. Today we will return to Kathmandu from Pokhara. We will board a short domestic flight after having breakfast and it will last about 25 to 30 minutes. You will have free time to relax or explore the city. You can go to local markets, purchase souvenirs, or just relax after the trek. We will hold a farewell dinner in the evening, during which we will have a chance to exchange our experiences and sum up the end of the journey.

Once the trek is complete you will arrive at Pokhara where you can rest by Phewa Lake and take your time. You can visit such locations as Lakeside, Peace Pagoda, or nearby perspectives. Then you can go back to Kathmandu and visit some cultural sites, temples and local markets or just rest before you go.
The Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake trek may also be combined with other attractions to make a more inclusive trip. You may pay a visit to Chitwan National Park and have a jungle adventure or visit Lumbini and have a cultural experience. It is also possible to make short visits to such destinations as Nagarkot or Bandipur. These extensions allow you to see various areas of Nepal outside the trekking trail.
