Soothing hospitality of cultural and magnanimous locals

The ethereal mountain and sunrise views within a short duration are a prime cause for the trek of the plethora of tourists to this Himalayan region. However, to enrich the trekking experience of these trekkers, the ethnic settlements of the Magar, Gurung, and Tamang people avail a lot. Starting from the lower regions, you are likely to encounter Brahmin or Chhetri settlements on the way. But while traversing towards Ghorepani and Ghandruk, the culture and lifestyle of Gurungs and Magars mesmerize you a lot.

The trek not only lets you observe their lifestyle from distance. But it is also a great opportunity to interact with the locals.

The trail that keeps you connected with your loved ones

The trail of Poonhill promises you to keep in touch with your loved ones through an internet connection. As the region is quite facilitated with internet connectivity you can ever share your new snaps in no time. In most of the hotels and lodges, there is free wifi service. But there are some who ask for a little extra free.

Besides, you can also go for mobile data use. Rather than the NTC data package, you better select the Ncell sim for the data purchase.

The maximum elevation where you stop your steps

At a maximum elevation of around 2864m, you will be spending your night at Ghorepani. But, the highest point where you jaunt is the Poonhill View Point at an altitude of 3210m. You will be spending merely a few hours here. The delirious journey to this viewpoint is awaiting you with a bountiful picturesque view.

What about the electricity facility on the Ghorepani hiking trail?

The trails of Ghorepani Poon Hill no longer restrict you from using the electricity facility. Almost every teahouse and lodge here lets you use the electricity for charging purposes. But, no matter what, while heading to the mountainous region do make sure to carry the spare batteries for your convenience.

In which season will you find the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek enticing?

There is no denying that both the winter and summer season has their own ethereal beauty to be admired by travel enthusiasts. However to enjoy the most from this journey, what can be the best time other than Spring and Autumn?

In the spring season, the trekking routes open up to their best with the blossoms of rhododendrons and other trees sprouting all around. Though the nights are still chilly and cold, the day no more demands heavy clothing. Offering you unobscured views of mountains and sceneries, the months of March, April, and May fall under the spring season.

Eminent as the festive season, a trek to the Ghorepani Poonhill during Autumn approaches you with the vibrant dry leaves all over the trails. On top of that, the crystal clear skies with spectacular mountain views are way beyond astonishing.

Deemed as the peak tourist season, both spring and autumn season sees a huge crowd on this trekking trail. Thus if you are a solitude lover, you can even opt for the winter and summer trek. Join the winter Ghorepani Poon Hill trek and examine how immune you are to the cold temperature.

Nonetheless, the trek route of Ghorepani Poon hill is accessible all year round.

Transportation Facility during the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Like most of the treks to the Annapurna region, the trek to Ghorepani Poon hill also commences from the lake city Pokhara. To reach Pokhara from Kathmandu, you have a range of transportation options.

Depending on your own preference, you can choose the local or private roadway ride to Pokhara from Kathmandu. Despite the road between is not easy always and the ride can be bumpy sometimes, the scenic views during the drive replenish all such drawbacks.

However, if you love airway transport, then you can join a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Though the cost of the flight is high than the roadway drive, the flight gives you plenty of spare time to ramble around the mesmerizing streets of Pokhara.

After landing at the Pokhara, take a private drive to Nayapul. From Nayapul start your trek journey to Ghorepani and Poonhill via Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, and many ethnic settlements in between.

To get out of this trekking trail, continue the trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani and then eventually at Ghandruk. From there you can directly take a drive back to Pokhara.

However, to enjoy the hot spring bath continue the trek up to Jhinu. Thereafter take a drive directly back to Pokhara.

Wondering about the Drinking water availability in the Poonhill trek region?

Packed mineral water plastic bottles are banned on most of the stops on this route. By carrying your own water bottle, you can refill the bottle at various hotels and lodges. You can ask for hot water too. Moreover, by adding the water purifying pills you can refill your bottle directly from the natural water resource which is widely available on the trekking trails.

It is crucial to keep your body hydrated while doing the higher altitude treks in Nepal. Though Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking does not fall under the higher altitude treks, you must keep your body hydrated during the trek. Further, while trudging the stairs you might need more of it. So drink plenty of water during the trekking journey.

During the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek apart from a few hours of Poonhill hike, you will not spend more time at an altitude over 2500m.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek Support

What type of meals and accommodation can you expect on this 10 Days Ghorepani Poonhill trek?

Never doubt the service of the teahouse and restaurants while venturing on Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking trails. Meals and accommodation are not a matter of concern during this short and easy Poonhill trek. All the teahouses and lodges on the trails are well facilitated with essential gadgets and equipment. Almost every teahouse lets you enjoy the wifi and hot water facility for free. But that can be an exception in some places.

Twin-sharing bedrooms are common in most lodging centers. The rooms normally do not have attached bathroom facilities. However, there are some with attached facilities. So, if you are lucky enough, you can get one.

Generally, you have to use the common bathroom which is used by your fellow trekkers. Also, don’t do the mistake of expecting western-style toilets at every resting stop. Yes, they are available at many places, but you never know when you have to end up using the squat one.

When you weigh up the facilities available on this easy trail, you will notice that the Poon hill trekking trails serve more facilities than other trekking trails in Nepal like the Kanchenjunga South Base Camp trek and Upper Dolpo Trekking trails.

With the essential amenities and impeccable hospitality, the teahouse and restaurants on the Ghorepani trekking trails offer enchanting views of the majestic Himalayas.

Well, this is all about the lodging facility in the trekking trail we are heading for. Now moving towards food availability, the region doesn’t lag to provide both the traditional and western cuisines. Normally not many varieties are available in the mountain regions. But in the case of this Poon hill trek, apart from the Nepalese traditional cuisines, you can go for some western dishes like American, Mexican, and so on.

To energize your body for the next day’s trek, you should better try Nepali Traditional Dal and Bhat. Even the locals here eat Dhal Bhat two times a day. It is widely available in all trekking routes of Nepal and is affordable too. With no additional cost, you can add this cuisine until you lose your appetite.

As most of the land on this trekking trail is fecund, farmers here grow the organic food that is deliberately served on your tables.

During the peak tourists season of Autumntime and Springtime, many tourists flock to this region. So, it’s better to do the prior booking of the accommodation. Since it’s peak season, be ready to cope with the soaring price of both food and accommodation.

Unexpectedly wonderful trekking Poonhill

My 1st time to trek in Nepal and I’m glad that we were going with Birendra and Sam. We planned to do ABC but not until we arrived in Pohkara did we learned that ABC was closed because of heavy snow. After discussing with Birendra we decided to go for Poonhill, which turned out to be a great Experience.
We are two ladies, my friend is a full-marathon runner, and I didn’t work out much for 4 months before setting off for trekking. But I’m glad that Birendra (our guide) and Sam (we call him Sam Sam, he’s our porter who’s also very experienced and kind) took care of both of us quite well. I highly recommended this company because:
1, well prepared and well-experienced. We walked through a very snowy trail on the 2nd/ 3rd day to Poonhill, and he prepared crampons so we could walk on very slippery snow and ice.
2, flexible. We changed the route at the last minute he still managed very well.
3/, well organized. Every day he would brief us on what we were doing, how long we would walk so that we had an idea.
4, Both of them took care of us quite well. Birendra tried to arrange rooms that fitted our needs, all the food and accommodation, WiFi, and he’s a good photographer too. Sam is very kind and he would always wait for me and let me walk before him, so he could have an eye on me.
It’s enjoyable to trek with them and we had a great time. Thank you both of them.

Greatest experience to trekking overseas

We visited Nepal for the Poonhill Trek and this was absolutely one of my greatest experiences for trekking overseas. I knew about Birendra, our trekking guide, from my friend as she highly recommended him for us, and Birendra never disappointed us on the whole trip! When planning for our trip, Birendra gave us a lot of suggestions regarding the duration and choice of places we could visit in Nepal. I was also really worried about the rainstorm in Nepal, but Birendra gave us confidence with his rich experience in trekking in Nepal, and I felt really safe throughout the days with him! Not to mention, he treated and respected the young porter really well, and even helped to carry some of my backpacks when I had difficulty during the treks. His knowledge about the mountains and Nepal history amazed us too, every night we would gather and learned about the routes for the next day. Birendra really impressed us as we did not the only trek but had an insightful trip!!! Superb!!
