Opt for the Shivapuri Hiking and experience the natural grandeur of Nepal. Awaiting you, with the bucolic forests of Rhododendrons, Pine, Fur, and Oaks, the trails of Shivapuri hills are the best spot for a one-day outing.
Located at an altitude of 2750m, the hills of Shivapuri are conserved by the Nepal government as Shivapuri Nagarjuna National Park. Further, it is also the closest National Park to the Kathmandu Valley. Therefore, many of the city dwellers opt for this hike near Kathmandu to experience the wilderness of Nepal within a short duration.
Eminent as the second-highest hill near the Kathmandu Valley, the Shivapuri Hill is the jewel of not only the valley but the entire nation. Traversing through the lush forest, the trail lets you witness exotic wildlife. Home to many bird species, the forest of Shivapuri is also the best birdwatching place in Nepal.
We will embark on the trek to Shivapuri Hill from the National Park entrance gate which is located near the Budhanilkhantha. Devoted to Lord Bishnu, Budhanilkantha is amongst the popular Hindu shrines in Nepal.
Proceeding the Shivapuri Hiking Hike from the entry gate, we will venture towards the dense pine forest to Nagi Gompa. After hiking for around 1 and a half hours, we will relish for some at the Gompa location. Amidst the dense forest, the visit to this beautiful Gompa brings out a beautiful smile on each of the hikers opting for this hike. Decorated by the vibrant prayer flags and various other Buddhist Shrines, the Shivapuri Hiking trails never let anyone leave this place empty-handed.
Further trekking from the Gompa location, explore Baghdwar(the water source of the sacred Bagmati river). The more we hike up, the trails get quite congested, but as soon as we reach the hilltop point, the statue of sage Shivapuri Baba comes up on our eyesight. Moreover, as a reward, views of mountains including Annapurna, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and many others show up with all of their beauty.
Spending some glorious time at the hill of Shivapuri, we will retrace the trail back to Budhanilkantha. Along with a sleeping statue of Lord Bishnu, we will explore other holy shrines located nearby. Afterward, joining a drive from there we will take you back to the hotel.
