9 Days Nepal Tour Organization by Mission Himalaya Treks

The itinerary of our 9 days Nepal tour begins with your arrival in Kathmandu. You will enjoy a two-night stay in Kathmandu, so you will have a detailed visit to its historical UNESCO sites.

Afterward, you will fly to Pokhara, where you will have two nights to fully experience what the city has to offer. After Pokhara, our 9 days Nepal tour will continue to Lumbini, where you will again have a comprehensive visit to its important religious sites.

Then, you will travel to Chitwan National Park, where you will spend another two nights engaging in all the jungle activities available. Our 9 days Nepal tour will then end with your flight back to Kathmandu.

Mission Himalaya Treks will organize only high-quality accommodations for you in all these cities, which also provide authentic atmospheres. You also have the option to book hotels of your choice for those who prefer.

We will also offer you a local guide for the tour who also has extensive knowledge of the art and culture of Nepal. All your ground and intercity travels will be carried out in private vehicles, and domestic flights will be arranged between Kathmandu and Pokhara, as well as from Chitwan to Kathmandu.

Attractions of our 8 Nights 9 Days Nepal Tour

  • Kathmandu Valley

During your short stay in Kathmandu, you will visit the main cultural sites of the valley, including Swayamabunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. You will experience the ancestral traditions intertwined with modern cultures.

  • Pokhara

A trip to Nepal is not truly complete without experiencing the breathtaking Himalayan views. Thus, our 9 days Nepal tour will also take you to Pokhara, a stunning tropical city filled with lakes and surrounded by the majestic Annapurna, Manaslu, Himchuli, Fishtail, and Lamjung peaks.

During your two-day stay in Pokhara, you will explore both natural wonders and manmade treasures, including Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Gupteswor Cave, Bat Cave, the Tibetan Refugee Camp, Phumdikot, the World Peace Pagoda, Bindhyavashini Temple, and many more.

  • Extra Adventure in Pokhara

If you crave the rush of excitement and exhilaration, Pokhara offers a multitude of options. From the stunning sunrise from the 1600 m high green hill of Sarangkot, paragliding, a hot air balloon ride, an ultralight flight, or bungee jumping, Pokhara has it all.

Additionally, you can also go for a short helicopter tour to Annapurna Base Camp or Mardi Himal Base Camp. We will be more than happy to organize the activities of your choice.

  • Lumbini

You will then visit Lumbini, a sacred location where Buddha was born, raised, and attained enlightenment. In Lumbini, you will come across numerous authentic pieces of evidence that affirm Lumbini is the true birthplace of Buddha.

You will encounter the Ashoka Pillar, constructed in 249 BC, which bears a Pali inscription that confirms Lumbini as Buddha’s birthplace.

Additionally, you will explore the Maya Devi Temple, situated precisely at the site where Buddha was born, the Pushkarini Pond where Maya Devi bathed before Buddha’s birth, and various international monasteries, a museum, and the eternal flame.

  • Chitwan National Park

A visit to Chitwan National Park will then conclude your 9 days Nepal tour. Although Nepal has 12 national parks, Chitwan remains the most famous. In the 19th century, British hunts were held in the park.

But in 1973, it was turned into a national park and is now a protected sanctuary for one-horned rhinos, Bengal tigers, various rare bird species, Gharials, Muggers, monkeys, sloths, bears, butterflies, deer, and other wildlife.

During your time in Chitwan, you will engage in exciting jungle activities, including a safari, canoeing on the Rapti River, interacting with baby elephants at their breeding center, birdwatching, and enjoying the captivating Tharu Stick Dance Show.

9 Days Nepal Tour Itinerary

As soon as you exit the TIA terminal, you will have a short meet and greet with our representative, who will then help you get to your hotel in our private vehicle.

Since it is your first day, today’s program may change based on your flight arrival time. After you take a short rest, our guide will introduce himself and give you a quick explanation about our 9 days Nepal tour program.

Then, together, we will take you to Pashupatinath Temple, the most sacred Hindu site in Nepal, dedicated to Shiva, located on the edge of the pious Bagmati River.

In the temple surroundings, you will see many funeral pyres and ghats by the river. If we still have enough time, we may also visit Boudhanath, a massive Buddhist stupa, similar to Swayambhunath.

Around the vicinity, you will also see many markets and monasteries from various Tibetan Buddhism schools. Before we head back to our hotel, we will also stop by the main area of the capital: Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Here, we will see the former royal palace, Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju, Kashthamandap, and Kumari temples.

Today also, we will keep exploring the historical monuments of Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, we will first visit the Swayambunath Temple, popularly known as Monkey Temple among the tourists.

It has an impressive stupa with Buddha eyes looking in all directions. The highlight is, however, the green hill over which it is located, from where you can see the entire sight of Kathmandu.

You will also find many monasteries, statues, a large prayer wheel, and chortens. Next, we will head towards Bhaktapur, the former ancient capital that has kept its traditions alive to date.

When wandering around this city, you will see the amazing Newari architecture of the beautiful Nyatapola Temple, a five-tiered pagoda, the three squares of Durbar, Tumadhi, and Dattatraya, the Royal Palace, the Golden Gate, the Lion Gate, and all the temples that are just a short walk away.

In the evening, you can enjoy the nightlife in Thamel, where you can find lots of pubs, cafes, restaurants with music, and cultural programs.

After a nice breakfast in the morning, we will head over to the domestic terminal of TIA to fly to Pokhara. The 30-minute short flight will be nothing short of magical as we fly over the massive frames of Langtang, Annapurna, and Fishtail.

Pokharais the tourist capital and the second-largest city of Nepal after Kathmandu, which lies beneath the protective frames of Annapurna and Fishtail peaks.

We will first check into our comfortable hotel near the tropical Phewa Lake, then we will go on to take a short tour of the city. In no specific order, we will visit the World Peace Stupa, which was established by the initiative of a Japanese Buddhist monk in the 19th century.

We will then head towards Phumdikot, where we will see the second-tallest statue of Shiva. We will also explore Bindhyabasini Temple, Tibetan Refugee Camp, Tibetan Handicraft Center, International Mountaineering Museum, and Pokhara Market.

As the sun sets, we will enjoy a boat ride on the glass-like surface of Lake Phewa. Then, amid the lights, music, and tasty food of Lakeside, we will enjoy the rest of the evening.

If you are an early riser, then, bright and early, you can hike or drive to Sarangkot View Point (1600 m) to see the emerging morning sun enveloping the huge frames of Annapurna I, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Lamjung, Himchuli, Manaslu, Fishtail, and many more.

After this enchanting sunrise, you can then head to your hotel for breakfast. You can then continue your adventure in Pokhara with a visit to Davis Falls, Gupteswor Cave, Mahendra Cave, and Bat Cave.

Or, you may also engage in paragliding, ultralight flight, or a hot air balloon ride from Sarangkot Hill. You can also take an Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour or a Mardi Himal Base Camp helicopter tour.

If you wish to participate in any of these thrilling sports, please notify us so we can make all the necessary arrangements for a small extra charge.

Today, our 9 days Nepal tour will take us to Lumbini, a city in southern Nepal known in the world as the true birthplace of Buddha. After breakfast, our car will pick us up from the hotel and drive south along the Siddhartha Highway, passing through Syangja and then Tansen Palpa.

Tansen is a small town between the huge peaks of Gaurishankar and Dhaulagiri, which is particularly famous for Rani Mahal, often referred to as the TajMahal of Nepal, as well as Tansen Palace.

As we continue, the hot, humid air of Terai begins to envelop us while we travel along the expansive Terai Highway towards Butwal. Before long, we will pass Tilottama and Siddharthanagar/Bhairawa to reach Lumbini.

After we check into our comfortable hotel, we will go out to explore the Maya Devi Temple, Sacred Garden, Ashoka Pillar (marking the Buddha’s birthplace), the sacred pond of  Pushkarini (where the Buddha’s mother bathed after giving birth), and the remnants of ancient monasteries.

Early in the morning, we will set off to explore some more sites of Lumbini. There is much more to see here, including an exploration of various international monasteries, the Lumbini Museum, the World Peace Pagoda, and an eternal flame.

Next, we will drive from Lumbini to Chitwan via the Siddhartha Highway through Siddharthanagar. Soon, the Mahendra Highway approaches us to take us through Kawasoti to Bharatpur and then to Sauraha, the gateway to Chitwan National Park.

After we check into the hotel near the park, we will pay a visit to the National Park Visitor Center. Here, we will know about Edward Pritchard Gee, an important figure in the park’s creation.

Then, we will head to the Sauraha Sunset Viewpoint, lying in the middle of the jungle, to see a mind-blowing sunset.

The seventh day of our 9 days Nepal tour is fully dedicated to discovering the nature and wildlife of Chitwan National Park. After breakfast, under the guidance of expert jungle rangers, we will engage in a safari of the forest.

We can either partake in a jeep safari, explore the jungle on foot, or ride on elephant back (although we do not recommend it for the sake of animal welfare).

We will encounter one-horned rhinos, spotted deer, wild boars, sloth bears, monkeys, but Bengal tigers are extremely rare. Then, after lunch, we will take a wooden canoe trip over the Rapti River.

The canoe is made from the branch of a single tree, but surprisingly, it gets comfortable once you settle in. While canoeing, we will come across gharials, muggers, aquatic birds, and plants.

Once we are back on land, we will then explore the elephant nursery and breeding center. We may also see them playing and bathing in the Narayani River as well.

Then, we will wander along the nearby Tharu Village, which houses a small museum that exhibits their household items, some artifacts, and old tools. Our evening will end with the Tharu Stick Dance and Fire Show.

If you like to see numerous enchanting birds dancing in the sky, then rise early and take a gentle walk through the forest of the park. You can also engage in a peaceful walk for a while through the jungle with rangers to see any animals you may have missed the day before.

Then, we will take a short flight to Kathmandu. In the evening, we will enjoy a nice Nepali dinner hosted by Mission Himalaya in your honor.

Unfortunately, our 8 nights 9 days Nepal tour ends today. Based on your departure flight time, if you have some extra time, you can consider visiting some more sites or browsing shops in the capital. A Mission Himalaya representative will accompany you to TIA to see you off.

In winter, from December to February, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Chitwan experience mild temperatures, which is also an excellent time for wildlife viewing due to less vegetation.

However, it is best to avoid June, July, and August because of the extreme heat in the Terai plains of Lumbini and Chitwan, along with heavy rains and mosquito problems.

If this is your first step in Nepal, or if you are feeling drained by the usual easy heritage tours that are often the case, then our 8 nights 9 days Nepal tour will be a complete tour for you.

Major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard can be used, but be aware of the 4% extra charge per transaction. Online QR payment is also now common in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not compulsory for our 9 days Nepal tour because of its relatively easy nature. However, we always recommend our guests to get at least a basic travel insurance plan while engaging in any tour in Nepal.

For our 9 days Nepal tour, we suggest you get the insurance covering your health, medical, accidental injuries, luggage loss, extra days, theft, third-party liabilities, and tour postponement or cancellation costs.

All transfers, tickets, and luggage handling are well managed so you can enjoy the 9 Days Nepal Tour without stress.

Don’ts on this Trip

While enjoying the 9 Days Nepal Tour, it is important to respect local customs and safety guidelines. Respect is a key aspect that visitors should undertake at religious sites by taking off their shoes before entering a temple or a monastery and dressing decently. Before taking photos of the local people, monks, or religious practices, asking permission is polite.

Tap water should not be used and instead one should use bottled or filtered water at all times. At Chitwan National Park, the wildlife must never be disturbed and guests must observe the instructions given by the guide during the safari. Respecting local etiquette should also be practiced by using the right hand when giving or receiving things and not to point feet to people or sacred things.

Language and Communication

Communication during the 9 Days Nepal Tour is easy and convenient. The national language is Nepali, although English is common in major tourist destinations like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini and Chitwan. All guides are English-speaking, and one can always approach them to assist with translation or communication.

The locals are hospitable and warm particularly in towns and tourist destinations. Simple words such as Namaste to greet and Dhanyabad to thank bring extra warmth to the communication. The local SIM cards are cheap to buy, and most hotels and restaurants have free Wi Fi, which means that communication during the tour is not a problem.

Trip Extension

Travelers who have extra time can easily extend their 9 Days Nepal Tour with additional destinations and activities. Nagarkot extension day is serene and calm and has a beautiful view of the sunrise above Himalayas.

Another great choice would be Bandipur, which has preserved Newari culture and beautiful mountainous views with an additional day. Visitors who love adventure can include one day of white water rafting on Trishuli or Seti River with professional guides. The trip will be extended to Chitwan where it will have more time to explore the jungle on safaris, visit villages, and take walks.

Cultural Festival on the Trail

Nepal is rich in cultural celebrations, and the 9 Days Nepal Tour may coincide with one of its colorful festivals. The largest festival in Nepal featured by family get-together, blessings, and visits to temples is Dashain, which is celebrated in September or October. Tihar, which is celebrated in October or November is a festival of lights and is dedicated to both animals and family relationships.

And another festival that is worth attending is called Holi and is celebrated in either February or March in towns such as Kathmandu or Pokhara and it is a festival of colors that are celebrated openly. Buddha Jayanti, which is celebrated in April or May, is particularly significant in Lumbini where people perform prayer ceremonies and give offerings of candles. The Chitwan region celebrates the Maghi, which is held in January, to celebrate the New Year through cultural dances and traditional food.

Photography and Drone Rules

Photography is encouraged during the 9 Days Nepal Tour, but it should always be done respectfully. Before capturing the photos of individuals particularly the monks or the villagers, the travelers are expected to seek permission. Certain religious sites and events can prohibit taking pictures and these should be obligatory at all times.

In Nepal, the use of drones should be approved and registered. Without special permission, drones are prohibited in most regions such as around airports, military, and national parks. Adhering to these rules will guarantee the safety and compliance with local regulations and communities.

Tips forfirst time visitors

First time visitors can make the most of their 9 Days Nepal Tour by keeping a few helpful tips in mind. Smiling at people and saying Namaste brings about pleasant interaction. It is best to have a little Nepali money on hand to cover local costs like a taxi and small stores. It is normal to bargain in the markets politely and with a pleasing nature.
